Nitrogen has the best Human Compatiblity of all Inert Gases

The extinguishing effect of nitrogen (N2) is based on the suffocating effect: atmospheric oxygen is displaced and is no longer available as fuel for fire. The gas passes through the flooded area quickly, providing complete room protection. Nitrogen is non-toxic, comprises 78 % of the air we breathe and provides the best human compatibility of all inert gases. It is therefore particularly suitable for the protection of heavily frequented areas.

Nitrogen is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas and makes up 78.1 % vol. of the atmosphere. Its density in relation to the air is 0.967:1. The extinguishing agent is gaseous nitrogen stored under pressure in high pressure steel cylinders.
